Beenie Man gets time to prepare for $40 million tax evasion lawsuit

Beenie man’s trial which began on Monday has been set to continue on July 29 in order to give the defendant more time to prepare and to gather evidence.
The Jamaican Dancehall artists is confronting charges brought on by the Jamaican government claiming that he owes over $40 million in back taxes.
The trial prosecutors have pointed out that the $40 million figure came about due to Beenie’s failure to pay his taxes over a numbers of years as well as the cost of penalties due to lack of payment. But Beenie Man has pointed out and remains fixed on his point that it was his management, Shocking Vibes that was responsible for paying his yearly dues to government.
Late last year the artist was arrested for failing to appear at the Tax Court to discuss the accusations.
